Memory and trauma in the prison system

This research line is concerned with investigating the memory of violent and traumatic situations in the prison system. We adopted an interdisciplinary approach in developing this work because it deals with the intersection of memory and violence and consequently with issues linked to sociology, the political sciences, history, psychoanalysis, literary criticism and anthropology. We analyze prison memories in an attempt to identify the aspects that change, the ones that have continuity, and those which are not registered in historical records. This line of research is coordinated by Myrian Sepulveda dos Santos, with the participation of researchers Inoã Carvalho Urbinati, Clarisse Silveira, and Weslley Hans de Carvalho Matos; and of undergraduate scholarship researchers Luccas Botelho, Marcelo de Carvalho, Rafaely Camilo Costa and Yasmim Issa.
